Aquatic Therapy

Aquatic therapy is a form of rehabilitation which provides patients who cannot tolerate land based exercise and alternative to improve strength, flexibility, and function.  This type of therapy is unique in that the buoyancy and warmth of the water allows the joints in the body to move more freely with less force of gravity.  Aquatic therapy is beneficial for those who have arthritis, generalized weakness, are overweight, and some post-surgical repairs.

Aqua therapy is appropriate for many different patients. One-on-one and/or group classes conducted by a physical therapist are designed to restore mobility, increase strength and improve cardiovascular conditions. In addition, this therapy improves the body’s local and global stabilization and decreases pain levels. Classes are individualized, based on the patient’s symptoms and functional needs.
